Printer Error Codes: B200, P07, 5B00 & More Explained

Printers display error codes that point to specific hardware or software problems. Knowing what each code means saves time and prevents unnecessary repairs. Here is a complete guide to the most common error codes.

B200 — Print Head Error

The B200 error means the print head has failed or the connection is faulty. This is one of the most serious errors.

Fix: Turn off the printer, unplug it for 5 minutes, then restart. If the error persists, remove the print head and clean the electrical contacts with isopropyl alcohol. In severe cases, the print head needs replacement.

P07 / P08 — Ink Absorber Full

These errors indicate the waste ink absorber pad is saturated. Some printers count printed pages and stop when a threshold is reached.

Fix: Reset the ink absorber counter using printer manufacturer service tools. You may also need to replace or clean the physical absorber pad inside the printer.

5B00 — Waste Ink Tank Full

Similar to P07/P08, this means the waste ink collection system is full. Common in photo printer models.

Fix: Power off, hold the Resume button for 10 seconds while powering on. If that doesn’t work, use the manufacturer’s service reset tool or contact support.

E02 — Paper Jam

The printer detected a paper jam in the feed path.

Fix: Open all access panels, gently pull out any jammed paper in the direction of the paper path. Check for small torn pieces. Close all panels and press OK.

E13 / E16 — Ink Level Low

The printer thinks one or more ink cartridges are empty or low.

Fix: Remove and reinsert the cartridge firmly. If using refilled cartridges, press and hold the Stop/Reset button for 5-10 seconds to bypass the ink level check.

U051 — Print Head Not Recognized

The printer cannot detect the installed print head.

Fix: Remove the print head, clean the contacts on both the head and the carriage with a lint-free cloth, then reinstall firmly. If the error persists, the print head may need replacement.
